Hi! My name is Spencer DeBurgh and I am the Senior Preaching Pastor at SMCC. I was born in Dallas Texas and grew up in Southern California. My mother and father taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ from a very young age; for all of my life, they have shown me how to walk with the Savior.
I graduated from North Hollywood High School and then from the University of Southern California but the most formative part of my education was being a member at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles. To this day, I am grateful for the godly teachers and mentors in the body of Christ there.
I completed Seminary at The Master's Seminary and then the doctoral program at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I served in pastoral ministry at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, California for eight years, Faith Bible Church in Spokane, Washington for five years, and Racine Bible Church in Racine, Wisconsin for 23 years before joining the family of God here at SMCC.

Hobbies:
Hiking, walking, and running. Reading classic literature. Going to concerts, museums and fun cultural events.
Role:
I have the joy of serving as a Pastor at Shades Mountain Community Church. A Pastor is a man who should never forget that he is working with people who are going to live forever. In all that I do: preaching, praying, counseling, visiting, leading, and shepherding I try to keep God and His truth at the center.
Favorite Scripture:
Let the high praises of God be in their throat, and a two-edged sword in their hand.
Psalm 149:6
