Hi! My name is Kim Elder, and I’m the Nursery Director at SMCC. I grew up in Trussville, AL and have so many wonderful memories of time spent at church with family and friends. At the age of 13 I heard the Gospel in a way that caused me to see the darkness of my sin, my need for a Savior and what it meant to become a follower of Jesus. I asked for forgiveness of my sins and prayed to receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior!
After leaving home I headed to Florence, AL where I attended the University of North Alabama and met my future husband! Mark and I married in 1989 and are blessed to be parents to Kaitlin and Barrett. Both children are married, living not far from us and bring us great joy! Emerson Kay is our first grandchild and is a constant source of laughter and fun.
As a young mom I began to experience a personal walk with Jesus in a new way. I attended Bible study, spent time with women that mentored me and developed a love for quiet time with the Lord. Serving in the nursery is giving me the opportunity to help young moms and dads attend worship and other activities that can deepen their faith in Jesus! I’ve seen God’s love and faithfulness in my life every step of the way and thankful to worship and serve at SMCC.

Hobbies:
I enjoy digging for treasures in antique and vintage shops, exploring and traveling to new places and spending time with family and friends. Being a Nana might be my favorite hobby!
Role:
In my role as Nursery Director, I am responsible for planning and overseeing programing for children ages birth to 5 years. Serving alongside over 100 caregivers is a privilege and gives me the opportunity to minister to the young families in our church.
