Hi! My name is Kevin Lee, and I serve as an Elder at SMCC. I was born in Wichita, Kansas and grew up in a military family. I met my future wife, Cindy, in high school in Kentucky and we started “going steady” when we were 15. We married when we were 20 years old and have been happily married for 43 years. We have one daughter, Tiffany, and son-in-law, Rick Healy. They have given us four wonderful grandchildren - Jillian, Nora, Seth, and Iva. Our children also are members at SMCC.
I was a career active duty Army officer and our family lived all over the world. We relocated from Germany to Birmingham in 2002 when I was assigned as a training advisor for the Army Reserve. We began attending SMCC and became members in October 2002. I retired from the Army in 2005 and I now work as a contractor with the Veteran’s Administration. I graduated from Birmingham Theological Seminary in 2017 with a Masters of Biblical Counseling and was ordained at SMCC as a lay pastor for Biblical Counseling.
I grew up believing in Jesus and the Bible as God’s Word and I never really doubted the truth. But I didn’t live my life any differently than the world. There was no fruit in my life, nor any attempt on my part to abide in Christ. Eventually I began to realize that I was on the wrong path and just believing in my head was not reaching my heart. I watched Cindy as a loving and praying wife and a devoted and committed follower of Jesus. Her walk of faith and conviction from her heart was an example of true faith for me. It wasn’t until I began to read and study the Bible that the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin and empty faith. Jesus saved my life and changed my heart! My life’s ambition is to live and walk in the light and truth of Jesus and please Him in every respect. I strive to shepherd my family in the way of the Lord and share God’s Word to all He brings across my path.
